Presentation

The Portuguese Cichlid Association presents its Third Convention.

The Portuguese convention intends to be a meeting place for European cichlid fans: Lisbon is a pleasant and peaceful city, full of sun, blue sky and sea; it is a nice place for spending a few days talking about cichlids, enjoying the weather and the countryside.

Program
  • Friday, 18 April 2008

     

    1. Fish Reception: 19:00H – 22:00H

    2. Expedition to observation in loco the only cichlid specie living on the wild in Europe, Australoheros facetum. It will leave Lisboa in bus heading south, to the areas were it could be found. Previous registration and minimum of participation required as well as good weather conditions.

      12:15H – "ti's at airports and fish-rooms, similar complex systems, applicable concepts", by APC member Luís Alves

      15:00H – The fish diversity of Lake Tanganiyka, by Doctor Angel Fitor

Reservations must be made for the dinner, since the participant's number is limited.

Fish and regulations

  1.  Only APC members, members from other cichlid associations and guests can present batches of fish at the convention.

  2. The fishes will be exhibited to the public and they will be classified by a jury. There will be awards for the 3 best batches of each group.

  3. All batches will be disposed at the Sunday’s auction. 10% of each sale will be for APC and 90% will be for the previous owner.

  4. The reserve price is defined by the previous owner.

  5. If there are no bids then the batch is returned to the previous owner.

  6. Groups of fish

    o    Adults:

    §  American

    §  Malawi

    §  Tanganyika

    §  Other African and Asian (including Victoria e Madagascar)

    o    Juvenile:

    §  American

    §  Malawi

    §  Tanganyika

    §  Other African and Asian (including Victoria and Madagascar)

     

  7.  Adult batches

    Adult batches must have between two and six sexually mature fish.
    If possible to distinguish the gender then there must be fish of both genders: Minimum proportion is 1/3.
    Valid batches are, for instance: 1 male 1 female, 1 male 3 females, 3 males 1 female, 3 males 2 females.
    Invalid batches are, for instance: 4 males, 1 female.

  8. Juvenile batches

    Juvenile batches must have between four and ten juvenile fish, equally old and longer than 1.25 cm.
    If possible to distinguish the gender then there must be fish of both genders: Minimum proportion is 1/3.

  9. Invalid batches

    Hybrids, too selected fish or sick fish will not be accepted.
    The organization can also refuse a batch if too many batches of that same species are already register or if the reserve price is too high.

10.   Batch registration

If you are a member of APC then you should register your batches inside the APC member's area, otherwise contact: fish@apciclideos.org
